Job Description

Our spacious outdoor environment is the perfect place for adventure, exploration and play, while our dedicated kaiako create meaningful learning experiences that help every child flourish.


We're looking for a reliable, caring and flexible Van Driver / Kaiako (Non-Certificated) to join our whānau on a 6-month fixed-term basis! This role combines safely transporting our tamariki with supporting the centre team, including providing break cover for our kaiako throughout the day. If you're a confident driver who enjoys working with children and is happy to lend a hand wherever needed, we'd love to hear from you!


What You'll Be Doing:


  • 35.5 hours per week across 5 days.
  • Safely transporting tamariki to and from the centre each day, following the designated schedule.
  • Driving children to excursions and other activities as required.
  • Ensuring all children are safely secured and supervised during van journeys, following all health and safety requirements.
  • Complete maintenance on the van when required.
  • Communicating with parents and caregivers and passing on important messages to the centre team.
  • Keeping the van clean, tidy and well maintained, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Supporting our kaiako with the care, supervision and engagement of tamariki when not completing driving duties.
  • Lending a hand with daily routines, play-based activities and other tasks to support the smooth running of the centre.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team to provide a safe, welcoming and positive environment for tamariki and whānau.


What We're Looking For:


  • A full, clean driver's licence and confidence driving a centre vehicle.
  • You're a confident & patient driver.
  • You can develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • A warm, caring and patient personality, with a genuine love for working with children.
  • A strong commitment to children's safety and wellbeing at all times.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, whānau and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to jump in and support the team wherever needed.
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an early childhood setting would be an advantage.
