Superior Farm Maintenance & Siteworks is looking for an experienced Operations & Commercial Manager to join our growing Winton-based business.


This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone from an earthworks, civil or project engineering, contracting or project management background who understands how to plan, resource and deliver projects successfully.


You'll work closely with the Managing Director and Foreman, taking ownership across project delivery, crews, machinery, clients, estimating and commercial performance.


This isn't a predominantly office-based position. We want someone who's comfortable getting out on site, solving problems and keeping projects moving.


What you'll be doing:


  • Managing civil, earthworks and rural contracting projects
  • Planning and coordinating crews, machinery and subcontractors
  • Managing workflow, resources, budgets and project programmes
  • Conducting site visits and working directly with clients
  • Preparing estimates, quotes, tenders and variations
  • Monitoring project costs, margins and profitability
  • Resolving operational issues and keeping projects on track
  • Identifying opportunities for new and repeat work


Who we're looking for


Your current title could be Operations Manager, Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Civil Supervisor, Civil Engineer, Project Engineer, Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or similar.


Ideally, you'll bring:


  • Solid civil, earthworks, engineering or contracting experience
  • Experience managing projects, crews and machinery
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • Estimating, quoting or tendering experience
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project profitability
  • Confidence dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • The ability to read plans and engineering drawings
  • A full NZ Driver Licence and the right to work in New Zealand


Relevant qualifications are beneficial, but strong practical industry experience is equally important.
