We are looking for enthusiastic Catering Assistants to join our team at CHT Karaka in Auckland. In this casual role, there are no guaranteed hours, with shifts offered as required to support business needs. You will play an important role in delivering high-quality food service while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities


  • Prepare, portion, and present meals while adhering to food safety standards.
  • Provide warm, friendly customer service and respond promptly to resident needs.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic dining, kitchen, and public areas, including waste handling.
  • Assist with stock rotation and replenishment of supplies.
  • Follow health, safety, and infection control procedures at all times.

  • A team player with a flexible, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to work autonomously when required.
  • Good communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Previous experience in catering or cleaning is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices or NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168) is desirable.
