We have multiple opportunities available for experienced Hammerhands to work across a range of residential and commercial projects throughout Dunedin.

If you’re confident on the tools, know your way around a construction site and can get stuck in without needing constant supervision, we want to hear from you.

We’re also open to hearing from experienced construction labourers who have solid tool skills and are ready to step up into a Hammerhand role.


Location: Multiple sites across Dunedin

Start date: Immediate starts available

Pay rate: $28–$30 per hour, depending on experience (paid weekly)


You’ll be working alongside experienced tradespeople across a variety of projects, including new builds, renovations, maintenance, residential and commercial construction.


  • What you’ll be doing:Assisting builders and qualified tradespeople on site
  • Carrying out general Hammerhand and construction duties
  • Using hand and power tools confidently and safely
  • Measuring, cutting and preparing building materials
  • Assisting with framing, lining, cladding and other building tasks
  • Reading and interpreting basic plans where required
  • Keeping worksites clean, organised and safe
  • Following instructions from site managers and qualified tradespeople
  • What we’re looking for:Previous Hammerhand or solid construction labouring experience
  • Confidence using a range of hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Good understanding of site health & safety
  • Reliable, hardworking attitude – turn up and get stuck in
  • Full NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Site Safe advantageous but not essential – we can assist with this
  • Valid working rights in New Zealand
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Recent, contactable references
  • What you’ll bring:Nail bag and your own basic hand tools
  • Practical construction knowledge and good initiative
  • A strong work ethic and pride in your workmanship
  • Reliability and a willingness to take direction when required
