Its primary focus is balancing high-level policy with front line operational management to meet the needs of the public.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join a high-performing technology team on a 12-month contract. This is a national role that offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in New Zealand .

As the Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership across a range of technology initiatives, guiding solution design, integration, and delivery while working closely with business and technical stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technology professional who combines strong leadership capability with deep technical expertise.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Provide technical leadership across projects and operational initiatives, leveraging proven experience as a Technical Lead to guide teams and drive successful outcomes.
  • Lead solution design and architecture activities, applying Solution Architecture expertise to deliver scalable, fit-for-purpose enterprise solutions.
  • Oversee system integration and messaging capabilities, ensuring reliable connectivity, performance, and seamless information flow across platforms.
  • Apply a strong software development background to support delivery teams, provide technical direction, and maintain high-quality solution standards.
  • Utilise broad technical expertise across networking, infrastructure, SQL/database technologies, and application environments to support complex technology landscapes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, communicate technical concepts effectively, identify and mitigate risks, and work autonomously within a distributed national team.
