Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Theatre Nurse for a permanent part-time opportunity within a specialist day surgery environment in Auckland. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team while maintaining an excellent work-life balance with a weekday-only roster.

About the Role


Working within a busy perioperative team, you will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical journey. You will work closely with Surgeons, Anaesthetists, and fellow healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and patient safety.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Delivering evidence-based perioperative nursing care
  • Preparing patients and operating theatres for surgery
  • Verifying patient identity, consent, and surgical requirements
  • Maintaining a safe and sterile operating environment
  • Performing Scrub Nurse and/or Circulating Nurse duties
  • Supporting patient recovery and clinical handovers
  • Ensuring accurate clinical documentation
  • Contributing to quality improvement and risk management initiatives


To be successful in this role, you will have:


  • Current Nursing Council of New Zealand registration and APC
  • Recent perioperative nursing experience
  • A minimum of two years’ operating theatre experience
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities
