About the role:


We are seeking enthusiastic Casual Menu Processors to join our team at Whanganui Hospital . This rewarding role plays an important part in the patient experience by helping ensure every patient receives meals that meet their individual dietary and nutritional requirements.


Working closely with ward staff, clinical Dietitians, and our food service team, you will help support patient health and recovery through accurate menu selection and dietary management.


This opportunity is ideal for students studying nutrition, dietetics, health sciences, healthcare, or anyone looking to gain valuable experience in a hospital environment while enjoying the flexibility of casual work.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities


• Assist patients with menu selections and dietary requirements

• Ensure meal choices align with prescribed dietary needs

• Work closely with ward staff, Dietitians, and food service teams

• Maintain accurate patient meal and dietary information

• Deliver exceptional customer service and support to patients

• Follow food safety, quality, and compliance standards

• A friendly, caring, and positive attitude

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Confident using computers and digital systems

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Previous food service experience is advantageous but not essential

• Food Safety Certificate (Unit Standard 167) preferred, or willingness to obtain one
