Short contract on offer, we need an experienced Project Accountant who is adept with SAP to step in and bring them up to date.

Our client based in the Bay of Plenty is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex project accounting and asset management. You'll take ownership of financial tracking across projects, ensuring accurate reporting and capitalisation of assets from inception through to completion.


Reporting to the Financial Controller you will be responsible for:

  • Managing  project accounting workflows including work in progress reporting and asset capitalisation
  • Work with SAP systems to maintain accurate financial records and project cost tracking
  • WIP reconciliations
  • Ensure WIP is brought up to date

Preferred Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with SAP, particularly in project accounting modules
  • Solid understanding of asset capitalisation principles and practices
  • Proven experience preparing and managing work in progress reports
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex project ledgers
  • Comfortable working independently and meeting tight reporting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) or active progress towards one
  • Prior experience in project-based or construction accounting environments
