Job Description

Start Here. Grow Here.

At BestStart Lynmore, we’re proud of our strong connection to our local community and our commitment to embracing and celebrating Te Ao Māori. Our tamariki regularly visit local marae, including Ōwhata, where they explore their whakapapa, learn the stories of their pepeha, and strengthen their connection to the whenua and their cultural heritage.

These meaningful experiences nurture a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride in our tamariki. Through our everyday practices, we celebrate the uniqueness of each child and create an environment where culture, relationships, and learning are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re looking for a passionate kaiako to join our team in a permanent, part-time position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor of Education or Diploma of Teaching (Level 7) in Early Childhood Education, along with current teacher certification.
  • Knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, planning, and assessment practices.
  • Confidence in using Te Reo Māori and incorporating tikanga Māori into everyday teaching and learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues.
  • Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a genuine passion for child-led learning.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Why BestStart?

At BestStart, we believe in supporting our kaiako to grow, thrive, and make a lasting difference. We offer Full Pay Parity and a range of benefits to support your professional development and wellbeing, including:

  • Teacher mentoring and a supportive induction programme.
  • Access to Whare Ako, our online learning platform.
  • Career development opportunities and leadership programmes.
  • Discounted childcare.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including subsidised health insurance (eligibility criteria apply) and our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
