Stringfellow Contracts Ltd is a well-established Civil Engineering Contractor located in Palmerston North.


Stringfellows is well known for high quality infrastructure work involving earthmoving, roading, drainage and retaining structures.


We currently have a full-time position available for an apprentice within our earthmoving team.


This position is open to applicants with no prior experience but experience in similar work would be beneficial.


This role is a stepping stone into civil earthworks and involves learning to operate a variety of different equipment and a variety of different earthmoving practices. A mentoring and training programme would be provided by Stringfellows, with the successful applicant completing national trade certificates as part of their training. Applicants without any prior experience will also gain heavy vehicle licences and a Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsement as part of their training.


In particular, we are looking for someone who has:


  • The ability to work in a team and actively contribute to that teams performance
  • An interest in machinery and technology
  • A willingness to learn
  • Enjoys solving problems
  • Prior experience in civil construction would be beneficial but not essential
