Job Description

  • Combine tertiary IT teaching with NZQA compliance and curriculum development
  • Senior hands-on role focused on practical IT education and academic quality
  • Ideal for an experienced polytechnic or PTE educator with technical expertise

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an established IT education provider seeking an experienced tertiary IT educator with strong curriculum development and NZQA compliance expertise.

This is a hands-on senior role combining 50% teaching and 50% academic compliance , suited to someone who has spent time in the classroom and understands what it takes to develop and deliver quality IT education programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical IT training to students at NZQA Level 6.
  • Design, develop and improve IT programmes, curriculum and course materials.
  • Create practical assessments, marking guides and learning outcomes.
  • Oversee NZQA compliance, moderation and academic quality assurance.
  • Review academic policies, programme documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor trainers and support consistency in teaching, assessment and marking.

What We're Looking

  • For Proven tertiary-level IT teaching experience , ideally within a polytechnic, PTE or specialist training provider.
  • Strong understanding of NZQA requirements, academic compliance and moderation.
  • Hands-on experience developing IT curriculum, programmes and practical assessments.
  • Technical background in software development, computer science or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience mentoring trainers and improving academic standards.
  • Strong written communication, documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally in IT or computer science.

About You

You're an experienced IT educator who understands both the practical realities of teaching and the regulatory requirements behind delivering quality programmes.

You'll be comfortable working in a smaller education environment, taking ownership of academic compliance while remaining actively involved in teaching and supporting other trainers.

This is not a standalone compliance or corporate software training role. We're looking for someone with genuine tertiary teaching experience who can also take ownership of curriculum quality and NZQA compliance.
