About the role:


You’ll own month-end, statutory reporting, the annual audit, budgeting and cost management. You’ll strengthen controls, sharpen systems and streamline processes giving the business accurate, timely and trusted financial information. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a technically strong accountant with commercial nous and a drive to improve. Best of all, it offers a clear pathway to Financial Controller, with growing exposure to financial strategy, capital and funding planning, and Board reporting.


Just some of the things you’re responsible for:

  • Lead statutory reporting, audit and compliance, including NZ IFRS and NZDX reporting, accounting policies, external audit delivery, tax obligations, and covenant and funder reporting support.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting and cost management, partnering with budget holders to build robust plans, monitor performance, challenge spend, identify savings, and support business cases.
  • Strengthen financial controls, systems and processes, improving delegated authorities, reconciliations, transactional finance, automation, data quality, process documentation, and audit outcomes.
  • Provide commercial and strategic insight, supporting financial strategy, long-term planning, capital and funding scenarios, investment evaluations, performance dashboards, and Board and investor reporting.
  • Lead and collaborate, developing the Finance Operations team, building succession capability, and partnering across the business to strengthen financial understanding and accountability.


You’ll need to have:


  • Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ or equivalent) with a relevant tertiary qualification (essential) the ability to coach, develop and motivate a finance team
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ IFRS, and experience improving or implementing accounting systems
  • Financial services or lending experience (preferred)
