About the role


This stunning boutique hotel is looking for a passionate Demi Chef to be a reliable support for our tight-knitted Kitchen Team.


Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be responsible for the full culinary duties in your designated section.


Key Responsibilities


  • Follow procedures as instructed by senior chefs
  • Prepare, cook and present high quality food ensuring consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction
  • Be well organised, following the daily schedule and tasks at hand
  • Maintain high levels of food safety and hygiene
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean during and after each shift


Skills and Requirements:


  • Minimum 3 year's experience as a Commis Chef or equivalent; or
  • NZQA Diploma in Cookery or relevant fields
  • Strong knowledge of a la carte and banquet service, modern and classical cooking
  • Physically fit to carry out Kitchen duties
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with a positive attitude
  • Handle pressure calmly and professionally
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts when necessary
  • Good communication skills and be able to work in a team
  • A high level of personal cleanliness
  • Hold NZ citizenship, permanent residency or a current valid work visa
