Unite Recruit is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join a civil construction project in Invercargill. This is a great opportunity for an operator who can confidently handle earthworks and civil site operations and is available for the duration of the project.


With accommodation provided, daily allowances and regular flights home, this is an opportunity to take on a regional project without having to organise all your own travel and accommodation.


Important: You must be available to work over Christmas and New Year.


  • What You’ll Be Doing Operating excavators safely and efficiently across civil construction and earthworks activities.
  • Completing pre-start checks, identifying hazards and maintaining equipment.
  • Working alongside ground crews and other operators to keep the project running safely and efficiently.
  • What We’re Looking For Proven excavator operating experience, ideally within civil construction.
  • Confidence working around ground crews, machinery and active construction sites.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety and following site procedures.
  • Reliability and availability to work through Christmas and New Year until the project finishes in mid-February 2027.
  • A full Class 1 driver licence as a baseline; a Class 2 licence is preferred, subject to the project’s vehicle and site requirements.
  • Relevant T (tracks) or W (wheels) endorsements, where required for the machine and duties being performed.
  • What’s On Offer Work available ASAP through to mid-February 2027.
  • Accommodation provided.
  • Daily allowances.
  • Flights home every four weeks.
  • The opportunity to work on a civil construction project with a supportive site team.
