Mō te tūnga | About the role

As a Programme Facilitator, you'll have the opportunity to do purposeful work supporting people to create positive and lasting change in their lives.

Working with people in our care at Tongariro Prison, and occasionally in other locations, you'll help participants better understand the factors contributing to their offending and support them to develop the skills and strategies needed to build crime-free futures.

You'll deliver a range of clinically designed therapeutic programmes, either independently or alongside a co-facilitator.

Our facilitators come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, educational pathways and life experiences.


We are seeking people who:

  • Are effective listeners and communicators and who can build strong positive relationships with participants and other stakeholders
  • Have knowledge of, or are willing to learn about Māori culture, protocols and peoples and apply Kaupapa Māori practice in your work
  • Have life experience that means you can work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and ethnic groups
  • Are comfortable having their practice viewed and are receptive of regular feedback on their practice
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The salary band for this role is $70,825-$89,406. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
