We are looking for multiple enthusiastic Casual Kitchen Hands to join our team at Taranaki Hospital in New Plymouth.


These are casual positions with no guaranteed hours, offering flexibility to fit around your lifestyle and other commitments. Working as part of our dedicated hospital team, you will support the delivery of quality meal services to patients while maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment.


This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will assist with food preparation, dishwashing, meal service, and general kitchen duties while working alongside a supportive team committed to providing an excellent experience for patients every day.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities


  • Providing excellent customer service to patients
  • Maintaining clean and tidy kitchen and dining areas
  • Washing dishes and supporting tray line service
  • Delivering meals to patients
  • Assisting with basic food preparation
  • Following food safety and hygiene standards


He kōrero mōu / About you


  • You will be a reliable team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering great service.
  • Experience in food preparation or kitchen work
  • A Food Safety Certificate (Unit Standard 167), or willingness to complete one
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A friendly, outgoing personality with a "can do" attitude
  • A commitment to health, safety, and workplace procedures
