About the role


Discover Tekapo / Lake Tekapo Holiday Homes is looking for one reliable and motivated Housekeeper / Commercial Cleaner to join our friendly team in Lake Tekapo. You will help prepare and service holiday homes so they are clean, welcoming and ready for our guests.


This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours each week. The role works across a roster and includes weekends and public holidays. Two rostered days off are provided each week. Accommodation may be available and can be discussed during the recruitment process.


Key responsibilities:


  • Clean and service holiday homes, including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas
  • Make beds and change linen
  • Vacuum, dust, mop and clean surfaces to the required standard
  • Restock guest and cleaning supplies as required
  • Check completed work and ensure properties are ready on time
  • Report maintenance issues, damage, lost property or safety concerns promptly
  • Use cleaning products and equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures
  • Travel between holiday homes in the Lake Tekapo area as required during the working day


What we are looking for:


  • A reliable approach, strong work ethic and pride in maintaining high cleaning standards
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to complete work efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Ability to understand work instructions and communicate with team members
  • Physical ability to undertake regular manual work, including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods
  • Availability to work rostered weekends and public holidays
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures
  • Willingness to live in, or relocate to, Lake Tekapo


Previous commercial cleaning or housekeeping experience is helpful but is not required. No formal qualification is required. Full training will be provided.


Pay and employment details:


  • Permanent full-time employment
  • One position available
  • Minimum 30 guaranteed hours per week throughout employment
  • Hourly rate of $26.00 to $28.00, depending on relevant experience
  • Rostered work, including weekends and public holidays
  • Two rostered days off each week
  • Based in Lake Tekapo, Canterbury
  • Accommodation may be available by separate arrangement
