Fluent in Mandarin and English? Love meeting people from around the world? Join us on Lake Whakatipu this summer.

Step aboard two of Queenstown's most iconic vessels, the historic TSS Earnslaw and Spirit of Queenstown, and help create unforgettable experiences for our guests. With a growing number of Mandarin-speaking visitors, we're looking for team members who can confidently communicate in both Mandarin and English, providing exceptional service and helping guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

As a Host, you'll be at the heart of our operation, creating memorable moments while working in one of New Zealand's most unique tourism environments. From serving food and beverages to assisting with boarding, answering guest questions, supporting events, and maintaining the presentation of our vessels, no two days are ever the same.

This role is primarily based on the TSS Earnslaw and Spirit of Queenstown, with opportunities to work across our wider operation, including Walter Peak.

Working on the water brings variety, challenge, and the chance to be part of a close-knit team that takes pride in delivering extraordinary experiences every day.

This is a fixed-term role for the Summer season, with preference given to candidates who can start immediately.

What we're looking for

  • Fluent Mandarin and English language skills (written and spoken) are essential.
  • At least one year of food and beverage experience, including bar and barista skills.
  • A confident, engaging host who enjoys connecting with guests from different cultures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to pitch in across all aspects of the operation, from guest service and food & beverage delivery to cleaning and vessel presentation.
  • The ability to stay positive, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maritime experience is a bonus but not essential .
