Health Services Coordinator – Permanent (0.85 FTE, 32 hours over 5 days)

Position Overview:

Massey University's Student Health and Counselling Centre on the beautiful Albany Campus is seeking a Health Services Coordinator to provide exceptional administrative support to students, patients and staff. This position is permanent at 0.85 FTE, with hours spread over five working days. Predominantly, this role provides the clinic’s administrative support for finance, doctors, nurses and counsellors; however, you will also at times be the first health point of contact for students, patients and staff, ensuring a welcoming, professional and culturally appropriate experience for all.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a confidential, professional and culturally appropriate welcome to patients and staff.
  • Provide comprehensive and timely administrative services for Student Health and
  • Counselling.
  • Undertake financial operations in support of the clinic in a methodical and accurate manner.
  • Handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Record accurate details in the patient’s electronic health record.


Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Health and Counselling staff, Student Wellbeing and support staff, and other
  • university departments.
  • External: Patients, Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora, PHO, ACC, Studentsafe Insurance,
  • Medtech and health providers.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A high level of computer literacy is essential.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is essential.
  • Experience in using accounting software is essential.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, or a willingness to learn, is essential.
  • Experience working in general practice or primary health care using Medtech
  • Evolution is desirable.


This is a 0.85 FTE position (32 hours), spread over five days, Monday to Friday, between 8.15am and 4.00pm.


The salary for this role is based on skills and experience, with the appointment to be between $60,069 - $84,876.

The employment setting will involve work with people across the lifespan, and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s Workers) Regulations 2015.
