He angitūtanga / The opportunity:


Join our dedicated team at CHT David Lange Care Home in Māngere East as a Catering Assistant. This is a casual position, with shifts offered when required based on operational needs and your availability. You will help deliver quality catering services and enjoyable dining experiences while supporting the individual dietary needs of our residents.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:


  • Assist with preparing, portioning, plating and presenting food.
  • Provide warm, friendly and professional service to residents.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic and tidy kitchen and dining areas.
  • Wash and sanitise dishes, kitchen equipment, pots and crockery.
  • Follow special diet requirements, food safety plans and infection control procedures.
  • Replenish supplies, receive and rotate stock, and support the wider catering team.


He kōrero mōu / About you:


  • Previous experience in a similar catering or food service role.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Hard-working, physically fit, dependable and reliable.
  • Knowledge of food safety, special diets or HACCP is desirable.
  • An NZQA Food Handling Certificate, including Units 167 and 168, is desirable.
