Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Fitter/Welder to join a busy Hastings workshop manufacturing and assembling tilt trays, truck decks and other truck body equipment.

This is a great opportunity for someone with solid engineering skills who enjoys hands-on fabrication, fitting and mechanical work.


Location: Hastings, Hawke’s Bay

Start date: Immediate

Pay rate: $35–$40 per hour


  • What You’ll Be DoingFitting and assembling tilt trays, truck decks and other truck body equipment
  • Measuring, cutting, drilling, welding and fitting steel and aluminium components
  • Installing hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Using engineering hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Carrying out repairs and modifications as required
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • What We’re Looking ForProven experience as a Fitter/Welder
  • Experience with transport decks or tilt trays would be beneficial
  • Competent using engineering hand and power tools
  • Good understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Basic electrical and wiring knowledge
  • Basic welding skills
  • Forklift licence and/or Class 2 licence would be beneficial but are not required
