Smiths Sports Shoes Whangarei is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Sales Consultant to join our team at Okara Shopping Centre.


We're a family-owned and operated store with a small, knowledgeable team who work closely together and take pride in providing customers with the right advice, service and footwear for their needs.


About the role


You'll be one of the faces of our store, helping customers find the right footwear for everything from running and walking to sport and everyday activity.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Fitting customers with the right shoes for their individual needs
  • Using gait analysis equipment to help recommend suitable footwear
  • Providing knowledgeable and friendly customer service
  • Assisting the Manager with day-to-day store operations
  • Merchandising and maintaining store presentation
  • Supporting digital marketing activities
  • Promoting the store and our products
  • General retail and store duties


About you


Ideally, you'll have a good general knowledge of sports footwear and sporting products, along with a genuine interest in a variety of sports and outdoor activities.


Retail, hospitality or customer service experience would be highly regarded. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who is:

  • A strong communicator, both in person and over the phone
  • Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic
  • Organised and able to work independently when required
  • A team player who enjoys working in a close-knit environment

You'll receive comprehensive on-the-job training from our Manager and Director, along with specialist product training from brand managers and digital training.


This is a 30-hour-per-week role working Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so availability across these days is essential.


Remuneration will be discussed at interview and will be based on a competitive market hourly rate.
