Job Title: Seasonal Strawberry Pickers – Fixed Term (October/November)


Location: Matakana, Auckland Region

Employment Type: Fixed Term Part-time (25 to 30 hours/week) – Seasonal (October to November)

Hours: 5–6 days per week | Early morning shifts (6:00 AM to 11:00 AM) | Some weekend work required

Remuneration: Contract (piece rate – paid per kg picked (Topped up to Minimum Wage of $23.95 if required)


Position Overview:


We are seeking motivated and physically fit Seasonal Pickers to join our harvest team during the October–November picking season. This is a hands-on outdoor role involving early morning starts and repetitive physical tasks. You’ll play a key part in harvesting fresh produce to meet market and quality demands. Remuneration is based on performance via piece rates, offering the opportunity to earn based on productivity.


Skills & Attributes Required:


  • Good level of physical fitness and endurance
  • Ability to bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Quick learner with the ability to follow instructions
  • Attention to detail – especially when identifying ripeness
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing weather and harvest conditions
  • Willingness to work early mornings and weekends as needed

Job Requirements


  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must live locally – no accommodation is provided.
  • Must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid work visa. Overseas workers will not be considered or responded to.
  • Must not be colour blind (visual inspection is key for quality picking).
  • Must be available for the full harvest period (October–November).
