Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Milford Asset Management in a key leadership role supporting its growing Wealth Management business.

Reporting to the Wealth Operations Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 9–10 Wealth Management Associates located across Milford’s regional offices. With your team not necessarily sitting alongside you each day, this role requires a natural people leader who can build strong relationships, create connection and accountability, and develop a high-performing team across multiple locations.

The Opportunity

With Milford’s regional Wealth Management business experiencing significant growth, this is an opportunity to take real ownership of the operational support provided to its regional teams.

You’ll be responsible for developing your people, ensuring consistent operational standards and driving improvements to the processes, systems and training that underpin an exceptional client experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team of Wealth Management Associates
  • Build a connected, collaborative and high-performing team culture
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones and support individual development and performance
  • Take ownership of operational processes and ensure consistency across the regional network
  • Initiate and coordinate training rollouts, ensuring Associates have strong technical and process knowledge
  • Act as a key point of contact between regional Associates, Advisers and other internal stakeholders
  • Provide technical support across onboarding, transactions and more complex client structures
  • Maintain a sound understanding of Milford’s custodial platform, registry provider and associated systems
  • Ensure appropriate risk, compliance and operational standards are maintained

Some travel to Milford’s regional offices will be required.

About You

You’ll be a natural and engaging people leader who enjoys taking responsibility, developing others and making things happen.

Importantly, you’ll be comfortable leading people who aren’t always physically in front of you. You’ll know how to stay connected, communicate clearly and create a strong sense of team across different locations.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Proven people leadership experience, ideally within funds management, wealth management or financial services
  • Strong coaching and development capability
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Sound technical understanding of investment platforms and how they operate
  • Experience implementing training and embedding consistent processes
  • The ability to balance people leadership with operational delivery

Why Milford?

This is an opportunity to join Milford at an exciting time of growth and take responsibility for a regional team that plays an important role in supporting its Wealth Management clients and Advisers.

The role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch
