Job Description

Working with the AA | Me mahi tahi tatou ki AA

For over 120 years the AA have been helping Kiwis on their adventures! Today, we're one of New Zealand's most respected and trusted brands. From our humble beginnings as a motoring enthusiast's club, the New Zealand AA (Automobile Association) has grown into a large, dynamic organisation offering many services and products to more than a million Members.

And now, we’re building the organisation of the future – more connected, modern, and purpose-driven. We are a business in transformation, with opportunities to work cross-functionally, grow new skills, and make a meaningful impact. We’re investing in our people, platforms, and ways of working to stay ahead of what our Members and customers need.

What You'll Be Doing | Mō te Tūranga

We’re looking for a skilled and customer-focused Vehicle Testing Officer to join our passionate Motoring Services team. If you’re committed to vehicle safety, enjoy working with people and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality inspections, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your career with one of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic organisations.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality vehicle testing services that meet AA and NZTA standards. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Carrying out accurate and compliant Warrant of Fitness (WOF) inspections, ensuring all checks meet AA and NZTA processes and quality expectations.
  • Providing clear, complete written and verbal reports, helping customers understand your findings in a way that's easy to follow.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and building positive relationships with members, customers and business clients.
  • Referring and promoting products and services that genuinely meet customer needs, supporting the wider AA service offering.
  • Investigating and resolving customer queries in line with AA policies and service standards.
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders, contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to technology, systems and processes, while contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Following all Health & Safety requirements to ensure a safe environment for yourself, your team and the public.

About You | Mōu

You're someone who combines strong technical capability with a genuine passion for customer service. You take pride in your work, enjoy working as part of a team and understand the important role vehicle safety plays in keeping New Zealanders moving.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A current Warrant of Fitness (WOF) Authority, with COF Certification being an advantage.
  • At least three years' automotive industry experience gained within the last five years.
  • A clean, full New Zealand driver's licence.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Basic computer skills and confidence using systems and technology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.

You’ll also bring a positive attitude, a professional approach and a willingness to continue learning and developing your skills. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about delivering exceptional service and helping maintain the AA's reputation as New Zealand's leading vehicle testing provider.

Here, we offer a lot more than roadside assistance. We're constantly evolving and advancing into new businesses, offering new challenges and a range of opportunities.

If you're passionate about vehicle safety and delivering outstanding customer service, we'd love to hear from you. Join a trusted Kiwi brand and become part of a supportive team where you can grow your career with the AA. Apply today.

Our teams celebrate diversity and believe that everyone should be able to bring their true selves to work every day.  We want you to feel comfortable to be your authentic self throughout the recruitment process, please feel free to let us know if there is anything you need to allow you to participate equitably.

Our recruitment process is people-led and relationship-focused—we do not use AI to screen or assess applications. Every application is reviewed by a real person, because we value potential, individuality, and the human stories behind each candidate.
