Job Description

Civil Drainlayer

Tradestaff is looking for an experienced Civil Drainlayer to join a well-established civil contractor working across Rangiora and North Canterbury. You’ll be getting stuck into drainage, subdivision and infrastructure projects as part of an experienced civil crew.


Location: Rangiora, North Canterbury

Start date: Immediate

Pay rate: $40–$45 per hour + weekly pay


  • What You’ll Be DoingInstall stormwater, sewer and drainage systems
  • Complete pipe laying, trenching, backfilling and compaction
  • Read and work accurately from plans and specifications
  • Carry out testing and ensure drainage work meets required standards
  • Work across subdivision and civil infrastructure projects
  • Safely use hand tools and small plant
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and site safety
  • What We’re Looking ForRegistered or Certified Drainlayer
  • Proven experience in civil drainage
  • Confidence reading and interpreting plans
  • Good knowledge of drainage standards and safe work practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a civil crew
  • Full NZ Driver Licence and reliable transport
  • Site Safe preferred but not essential
