Our client is a well-established commercial construction business with a strong reputation for delivering quality projects across Dunedin and the South Island.


They are looking for a Site Manager to join their team, with the flexibility to consider candidates with a range of experience levels. Whether you are an experienced Site Manager looking for your next challenge, or a skilled Foreman/Site Supervisor ready to step up, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career.


The role will involve working across commercial construction projects of varying sizes, so the successful candidate will need to be adaptable and comfortable adjusting their approach depending on the project.


The role

You will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of commercial construction sites, working closely with project management, trades, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating day-to-day site operations
  • Leading and coordinating trades, subcontractors and site personnel
  • Planning and organising site activities, materials and resources
  • Monitoring project progress, quality and programme
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Reading and working from plans, drawings and project specifications
  • Identifying and resolving issues on site
  • Maintaining strong communication with project managers, clients and subcontractors
  • Ensuring sites are organised, productive and professionally presented
  • Completing relevant site documentation and reporting


About you

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and adaptable, with a genuine interest in commercial construction and site leadership.


You may be an experienced Site Manager, or a capable Foreman/Site Supervisor who is ready to take the next step.


Ideally, you will have:

  • Commercial construction experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising construction teams
  • A strong understanding of construction processes and site operations
  • Good planning, organisation and communication skills
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • The ability to work effectively with a range of trades and subcontractors
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach
  • The flexibility to work across projects of different sizes and complexities
  • A full NZ driver's licence


Less experience? That's okay. Our client is open to the right person who has the potential to grow into the role. If you have strong construction fundamentals, leadership potential and the right attitude, they are prepared to invest in your development.
