He angitūtanga / The opportunity:


We are looking for a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team at Tauranga Hospital .

This is a permanent position with 35 guaranteed hours per week . You will prepare, cook and serve quality food while supporting the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the staff café.

You will maintain high standards of presentation, food safety and customer satisfaction while assisting with menu planning, stock control and waste reduction. You will also share your knowledge and support the development of other team members.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:


  • Prepare, cook, portion and present menu items to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintain quality control and complete all end-of-service requirements.
  • Receive, store and rotate kitchen supplies while helping to minimise waste.
  • Support menu planning for customers with dietary and cultural requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety standards.


He kōrero mōu / About you:


  • An NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous cooking experience in a similar catering or food service environment.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure while remaining professional.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • A flexible, reliable and hardworking approach, with good physical fitness.
  • An NZQA Food Handling Certificate, menu and nutrition planning experience, or previous experience coaching kitchen teams would be advantageous.
