Senior Network & AWS Network Engineer

Wellington CBD | Permanent | Up to $150,000 + benefits


Are you a senior network engineer with strong enterprise networking and AWS cloud expertise? Looking for an opportunity to work across complex infrastructure, cloud connectivity and network transformation? We’re looking for a Senior Network & AWS Network Engineer to design, deliver and continuously improve secure, scalable and highly available networking across on-premises and AWS cloud environments.


Based in Wellington CBD, this permanent opportunity will suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, improving network performance and reliability, and providing technical leadership. You’ll play a key role in supporting business-critical systems and delivering network and cloud transformation initiatives. Working across enterprise networking and AWS, you’ll help shape resilient architectures, strengthen security and drive greater automation and operational efficiency.


What you’ll be doing


  • Designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and wireless networks.
  • Developing scalable, resilient network architectures to support business needs.
  • Managing AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, load balancers, Cloud WAN and VPC Endpoints.
  • Delivering secure hybrid cloud connectivity and applying network security and Zero Trust principles.
  • Providing Level 3 support and leading root cause analysis for major network incidents.
  • Developing network automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Python and Ansible.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement.


What you’ll bring


  • 8+ years of networking experience, with strong enterprise networking expertise.
  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS cloud networking experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DNS, DHCP and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto or equivalent.
  • Strong AWS networking skills, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Security Groups and Network ACLs.
  • An understanding of network security architecture, Zero Trust and secure hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, network automation and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to technical leadership.


AWS Advanced Networking Specialty and/or CCNP certifications would be advantageous, as would a relevant tertiary qualification.
