About the role

We are looking for a practical and enthusiastic Junior Gardener’s Assistant to join the team at our Highlands village in Highland Park, East Auckland. You do not need to be an experienced gardener—this is an opportunity to learn on the job, build useful skills and take pride in helping our gardens look their best.

Our 12-acre village includes more than 1,000 roses, ponds and a bird aviary, giving you a rewarding outdoor environment in which to work. The hours are Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.00pm (40 hours per week).

Working alongside our experienced gardening team, you will:

  • Complete regular grounds work, including repetitive tasks such as weeding
  • Help with planting and the care of plants, shrubs and trees
  • Follow planned garden maintenance programmes and daily instructions
  • Keep gardening tools and equipment clean and well maintained
  • Work respectfully around residents, visitors and other village team members

About you

This is a hands-on outdoor role that involves being active throughout the day. You will need to be physically fit and comfortable bending, lifting, using garden equipment and completing repetitive work such as weeding. If you are reliable, keen to learn and enjoy practical work, we would love to hear from you.

  • A genuine interest in gardening, grounds maintenance or outdoor work
  • Physical fitness and the ability to safely carry out active, repetitive tasks
  • A clean and valid New Zealand driver licence
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to follow instructions and learn
  • Reliability, good teamwork and confidence communicating with residents and colleagues
  • Previous gardening experience is helpful but not essential
