Job Description

We’re looking for a capable and aspiring leader to support the operations of our Eden Care Centre and Retirement Village in Auckland. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to broaden their leadership experience and further develop their pathway towards a General Manager role.


Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation and performance of the site, helping bring together our people, services and operational priorities to create a great experience for our residents and their families.


This is a broad, hands-on leadership role. You’ll be visible across the site, building strong relationships with residents and teams, responsible directly for our hospitality teams, keeping operational priorities moving and stepping in to provide leadership continuity when needed.


This role includes management cover for one weekend day each week, alternating between Saturday and Sunday.


What you’ll be doing


  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations leadership and performance of the site.
  • Provide operational oversight across areas including resident experience, housekeeping, and village events .
  • Work closely with other department leads to deliver consistently high standards of care and service
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families and whānau, team members and other key stakeholders
  • Support and coach leaders and team members, helping create clear expectations, accountability and strong team performance
  • Keep a close eye on key operational measures including occupancy, labour, expenditure, resident experience and service performance
  • Play an active role in the sales process; handle prospective resident enquiries, conduct site tours, hold sales conversations and facilitate an exceptional resident admission experience
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, reporting and operational planning
  • Support recruitment, induction, retention, performance and development across the site.
  • Oversee and contribute to the coordination of resident feedback and complaints, ensuring actions are followed through and sustained
  • Support quality, compliance, health and safety and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide leadership continuity and step into delegated responsibilities when the General Manager is unavailable

You’re a confident and approachable developing leader who enjoys being close to the day-to-day operation while still keeping sight of the bigger picture.


You’ll ideally bring:


  • Experience in a service environment ideally from healthcare, aged care, retirement living, hospitality or business operations
  • Experience working in a complex, customer or service-focused environment
  • Developing people leadership skills and the ability to bring different teams together
  • A natural ability to build trusted relationships with residents, families and colleagues
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple areas
  • Sound commercial awareness, with a curious and analytical approach to understanding operational financials
  • Sound judgement and confidence making decisions within your area of responsibility
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to get involved
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence to build presentation and team facilitation capabilities
  • A commitment to high standards of service, quality, compliance and resident experience
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence
