THE GIG:


Our client is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Operations Manager to join their Christchurch team. Specialising in asbestos removal, commercial demolition, construction, and waste recycling, they stay focussed on delivering every project with practical experience, technical capability, and a future-focused mindset.


This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys making things happen: leading people, improving systems, enhancing utilisation, and ensuring the business consistently delivers for its customers.


As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational performance of the business and ensuring people, processes and resources are working effectively. You’ll play a key role in supporting the businesses continued growth by bringing structure, accountability and operational excellence across the business.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Leading and supporting operational teams to achieve business objectives
  • Managing day-to-day workflow, scheduling and resource allocation
  • Improving operational processes, systems and efficiencies
  • Setting clear expectations and performance standards
  • Monitoring key operational and financial performance indicators
  • Supporting recruitment, training and development of team members
  • Ensuring health, safety, sustainability and compliance requirements are maintained
  • Managing suppliers, contractors and key operational relationships
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity
  • Working closely with senior management on business planning and growth
  • Building a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture


This is a Monday – Friday position based in Christchurch. Some travel to other branches may be required.


YOU’LL BRING:


We’re looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident leading people. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Proven experience in an operations, management or senior supervisory role
  • Experience in in demolition, construction, waste recycling or a similar industry preferred
  • Strong people leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time-management abilities
  • A commercial mindset and understanding of business performance
  • The ability to identify problems and implement practical solutions
  • Confidence working with systems, processes and performance data
  • A proactive, hands-on approach
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • A commitment to health, safety and high standards
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior leadership
  • Class 4 licence preferred
