  • $26.00 to $30.00 per hour; Based on experiences and tickets held
  • Ongoing civil construction work

About the Role

Unite Recruit is looking for reliable and hardworking Civil Labourers to join civil construction and infrastructure projects across the Wellington region.

Whether you have previous civil construction experience or are a motivated labourer looking to develop your skills, we want to hear from you.

You’ll work alongside experienced operators, tradespeople and site crews on a variety of projects involving earthworks, drainage, roading, site preparation and general civil construction.

If you’re physically fit, safety-conscious and keen to work, this is an opportunity to secure ongoing work and build your experience in the civil construction industry.


  • What You’ll Be Doing Carrying out general civil construction labouring and site preparation.
  • Assisting with drainage, trenching, excavation and underground services.
  • Moving materials, loading and unloading equipment, and maintaining tidy work areas.
  • Assisting machine operators, drivers and other site personnel.
  • Using hand tools and basic construction equipment safely.
  • Installing and removing temporary site equipment and barriers as required.
  • Following instructions from supervisors and leading hands.
  • Identifying hazards and following site Health & Safety procedures.
  • Supporting the team to complete projects safely, efficiently and on schedule.

What We Need

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Previous civil construction or general labouring experience preferred.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual work.
  • Reliable transport and the ability to get to work on time.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Tickets and experience that will give you an advantage:

  • Site Safe certification.
  • Full or restricted NZ driver's licence.
  • WTR endorsements (Wheels, Tracks and Rollers).
  • Class 2, 4 or 5 driver's licence.
  • First Aid, Working at Heights or Confined Spaces certificates.
  • Experience in drainage, roading, earthworks or underground services.
