RC Driller Offsider


Tradestaff is looking for motivated RC Driller Offsiders to join a busy mining operation at Macraes Mine near Dunedin. This is a hands-on, field-based role working alongside drilling crews, where accuracy, safety awareness and the ability to work confidently in all weather conditions are essential. This will be for approx 6 months position.


Location: Macraes Mine, Dunedin

Start date: Early October

Duration: 6 Months roughly

Pay rate: $28 per hour

About the roleWorking out in the field at the drill rig, you’ll support the sampling process and ensure accurate information is collected and recorded throughout each drill hole.


Your duties will include:


  • Weighing and recording sample bags as they come off the drill rig
  • Accurately entering sample data into spreadsheets as you work
  • Saving completed drill-hole data and passing it to the geologists for database upload
  • Transporting completed samples to the laboratory
  • Setting up and preparing for the next drill hole
  • Working safely around drilling operations, mining infrastructure and multiple site hazards
  • Working outdoors in a fast-paced environment and in all weather conditions


What we’re looking for


  • Strong health and safety awareness, with the confidence to speak up if work cannot be completed safely
  • Self-motivated, proactive and willing to get stuck in
  • Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to collect accurate data in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Excel
  • A valid Class 1 driver licence; a current forklift licence/certificate would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Ability to comply with the site's zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy, including passing testing as required; the site is also smoke and vape free
