PERSOL is proud to be recruiting on behalf of Programmed Facility Management, one of New Zealand's leading providers of facility maintenance and asset management services.


About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Sports Turf Operator to join our team, specialising in sports field renovations, turf construction and high-level grounds maintenance.


This is a hands-on role where you will work as part of a skilled field crew, operating specialised turf machinery and tractors to deliver quality sports turf, oval maintenance and renovation projects.


You will be responsible for operating machinery safely and efficiently, completing ground preparation and turf renovation work, and maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety.


Key Responsibilities


  • Sports Turf & Groundworks: Carry out sports field renovations, turf construction, ground preparation and high-level grounds maintenance.
  • Machinery Operation: Safely and confidently operate tractors and specialised turf renovation equipment, including top dressers, aerators, verti-drains and turf cutters.
  • Site & Safety: Follow site safety procedures and ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Quality Workmanship: Work as part of a team to deliver sports field projects on time and to specification.
  • Equipment Care: Complete daily checks and ensure machinery and equipment is operated and maintained correctly.


Qualifications & Skills Required


  • Experience: 2+ years' experience in sports turf management, commercial landscaping, civil earthworks, horticulture or sports grounds maintenance.
  • Qualification: Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or equivalent qualification is highly regarded.
  • Driver Licence: Full Class 2 Driver Licence and WTR endorsements are essential.
  • Machinery Skills: Proven experience operating tractors and heavy turf or ground maintenance machinery is essential.
  • Technical Ability: Strong understanding of sports turf, ground preparation and renovation practices.
  • Work Ethic: Reliable, safety-focused and physically capable, with a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
