Tradestaff is looking for experienced Fitter-Welders with strong heavy fabrication skills for opportunities across New Zealand. We have multiple roles available for skilled workers who can confidently fabricate, fit and weld heavy steel components to a high standard.


For suitably skilled candidates, employer sponsorship opportunities may be available, including for applicants currently offshore or those already in New Zealand who require sponsorship.

Location: Multiple locations across New Zealand

Pay rate: $30–$38 per hour, paid weekly


What you’ll be doing:


You’ll be working across a range of heavy fabrication and industrial projects, producing and assembling steel components to specification.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Heavy fabrication and structural welding to specification
  • Reading and interpreting detailed fabrication and engineering drawings
  • MIG and stick welding, with TIG where required
  • Fitting, tacking and assembling large steel components
  • Using cutting, grinding and forming equipment
  • Site installation work as required
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety

What we’re looking for:


  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant Fitter-Welder or heavy fabrication experience
  • Strong MIG and stick welding skills, with TIG experience an advantage
  • Ability to read and work accurately from engineering and fabrication drawings
  • Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious
  • Own tools and reliable transport
  • Two recent work references
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
