Ross Reid Contractors Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil Site Supervisor for a new project based in the Queenstown region.


This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily site operations, supervising employees and subcontractors, coordinating plant and resources, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.


About the Role


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Supervising employees, subcontractors and daily field operations
  • Coordinating labour, plant, materials and site resources
  • Working with the Project Manager to develop daily and weekly construction programmes
  • Providing clear instructions to leading hands, operators and labourers
  • Monitoring productivity, workmanship and project progress
  • Reading and interpreting civil construction plans and specifications
  • Conducting daily site briefings and weekly toolbox talks
  • Managing site inductions, hazard controls and safety documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Completing daily site diaries, timesheets and required project documentation
  • Monitoring plant checks, plant hours and operator compliance
  • Coordinating survey requirements with the Project Manager and survey team
  • Reporting variations, delays, disputes and site concerns to the Project Manager
  • Completing final inspections to ensure work meets contract and client requirements


About You


The successful applicant will have:


  • Proven Site Supervisor experience in civil construction, earthworks, drainage or infrastructure
  • Strong practical knowledge of civil construction site operations
  • Experience supervising employees, subcontractors and plant
  • The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand health and safety, environmental and construction requirements
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety
  • The ability to complete site documentation accurately and on time
  • A current New Zealand driver licence
  • The legal right to work in New Zealand


Experience using digital site reporting, safety and documentation systems would be advantageous.
