Job Description

Deep Creek Fruits is looking for reliable, enthusiastic people to join our bird control team for the upcoming cherry season.


Bird control plays an important role in protecting our cherry crop, and we're looking for people who enjoy working outdoors, can work independently and take a responsible approach to firearm safety.

Positions will commence progressively from early to mid-November, with additional team members joining in early December.


About the Role


Working across our Tarras orchard, you'll help minimise bird damage to our cherries using a range of deterrent methods. These include firearms, automated bird-scaring equipment and vehicle-based deterrents.

What We're Looking For


A current New Zealand firearms licence is essential.


We're looking for people who:


  • Have a strong commitment to safe firearm handling and workplace safety
  • Are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Can work confidently on their own and contribute positively to a team
  • Are dependable, punctual and self-motivated
  • Have a practical, positive attitude and are willing to get stuck in
  • Are available to work rostered hours, including weekends
  • Are willing to undergo Police vetting and drug and alcohol testing


Experience operating quad bikes, motorbikes or 4WD vehicles would be an advantage.
