An exciting opportunity has become available for a Manager Credit Risk Governance & Compliance to join our Credit Risk team, reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer.


  • This is a highly visible role at the heart of ASB's Credit function, where you'll help shape governance, risk management and compliance practices while supporting the delivery of critical Credit Risk reporting and insights to executive stakeholders.
  • You'll play a key role in ensuring the Credit team effectively meets its Line 1 Risk and Compliance obligations, while continuously improving processes, controls and governance frameworks.
  • Working closely with senior leaders across the business, you'll provide trusted advice on emerging risks, regulatory change, governance matters and control effectiveness.
  • This is an opportunity to influence how risk is managed within one of New Zealand's leading financial institutions while helping drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and sound decision-making.


Ngā pūkenga | About you


You'll bring a strong background in credit risk, operational risk, compliance, governance or broader risk management within a financial services environment.


You'll also demonstrate:


  • Experience operating within complex risk, governance or compliance frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and presenting insights, risks and recommendations clearly and confidently.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of enhancing processes, controls and ways of working.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgement, strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate competing priorities.
  • A passion for fostering a strong risk culture and helping organisations manage risk effectively.
