He angitūtanga / The opportunity:


We are looking for a reliable and caring Catering Assistant to join our team at Whanganui Patient Feeding .


This is a permanent part-time position working 9 hours per week on Monday and Tuesday 15:00 to 19:30 . You will help deliver a quality catering service by preparing and presenting food, supporting patient meal services, maintaining clean kitchen and dining areas, and providing warm, professional customer service.


Working in a healthcare environment, you will follow dietary requirements, food safety practices, infection control procedures, and health and safety standards to support a safe and positive experience for patients.


Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:


  • Prepare, portion and present food while following the site food safety plan.
  • Provide warm, friendly and professional service to patients and customers.
  • Support special and modified diets in line with dietary instructions.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic and organised kitchen, dining and service areas.
  • Wash dishes, replenish supplies and assist with stock receipt and rotation.

  • Previous experience in a similar catering, food service or customer service role.
  • A reliable, hardworking and flexible approach to your work.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with patients and staff.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A good level of physical fitness and the ability to meet pre-employment check requirements.
  • Previous experience in a catering environment or an NZQA Food Handling Certificate would be advantageous.
