We’re looking for an experienced Water Technician to join our Hastings team.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll help deliver, maintain, and operate essential water infrastructure across the network. Day to day, you’ll carry out repairs, respond to faults, support planned maintenance, and help keep water services safe, reliable, and up to standard.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities


  • Carry out repairs and maintenance on water mains, service lines, hydrants, tobies, and related assets.
  • Complete residential and commercial connections, including backflow preventer installation.
  • Support Pipe installation, maintenance, pressure testing, and sterilisation of new mains before connection to the network.
  • Install valves, hydrants, and associated fittings to a high standard.
  • Work flexibly across planned and reactive maintenance, with some overtime and optional weekend work when needed.

  • A Minimum full Class 2 licence.
  • A Level 3 or 4 Water qualification.
  • Experience In 3 Waters maintenance, with PE pipe work and pipe welding an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
  • A commitment to safety, wellbeing, and carrying out the inherent requirements of a hands-on outdoor role.
