About the opportunity


Harbour Cancer & Wellness is seeking an experienced and proactive Quality Manager to join our team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover through to February 2028. The role may be worked between 0.8 and 1.0 FTE.


This is an opportunity for a quality, governance, risk, safety or healthcare professional who enjoys improving systems, supporting teams and turning quality information into practical action. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible and work closely with our outgoing Quality Manager to complete a thorough handover and support a smooth transition.


About the role


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and part of the management team, the Quality Manager coordinates Harbour Cancer & Wellness quality, safety, compliance, risk and improvement systems. The role supports managers and teams to manage incidents, complaints, privacy, risk and health and safety requirements, and facilitates quality improvements across the organisation.


The role is also responsible for the day-to-day coordination of our quality management system (LogiQC), including document control, reporting, task follow-up, user support and preparation of quality information for management.


Responsibilities include:


  • Maintain and improve LogiQC, including registers, workflows, user access, task lists, reporting and document control
  • Coordinate incident, near-miss and adverse-event processes from initial report through investigation, corrective action and closure
  • Coordinate complaints, feedback, privacy matters and associated follow-up actions
  • Maintain the organisation-wide risk register and support leaders with risk identification, review and mitigation
  • Coordinate health and safety systems, contractor controls, committee processes and agreed actions
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, policy reviews and controlled documents
  • Support improvement projects and ensure completed changes are implemented, communicated and reviewed
  • Prepare quality and safety reports and coordinate relevant governance and operational / team meetings


About you


You will bring practical experience in quality, governance, risk, audit, safety or improvement within healthcare or another regulated environment. You will be organised, credible and comfortable working across clinical and non-clinical teams, with the judgement to handle sensitive information and escalate material matters appropriately.


You will bring:

  • A relevant clinical tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in healthcare quality, governance, clinical practice, risk, safety or a related discipline
  • Experience coordinating quality systems, investigations, risk, audits, policies or improvement work
  • Strong written communication, meeting facilitation, stakeholder engagement, prioritisation and follow-through
  • Sound judgement when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Confidence using digital quality management systems, Microsoft 365 and data for reporting and improvement
  • A practical understanding of culturally safe, patient- and whanau-centred care and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles


Highly desirable:

  • Current registration as a New Zealand health professional
  • Healthcare quality or safety qualifications, audit or investigation training, or project/change management experience
  • Experience administering LogiQC Quality Management System or a comparable quality management system
  • Experience with privacy, complaints management, contractor safety and health and safety committee coordination
