Carpenters & Hammerhands

Location: Queenstown, Otago

Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed Term

Hourly Pay: $35 – $45 per hour + 8% holiday pay

Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week

Remarkable People is seeking experienced Carpenters and motivated Hammerhands to join busy construction teams across Queenstown.

We have opportunities available on a range of residential and commercial construction projects. Whether you're a qualified or experienced Carpenter looking to put your skills to work, or a Hammerhand keen to develop your experience in the building industry, we'd love to hear from you.

Positions Available:

1. Carpenters

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications.
• Measure, cut, assemble and install timber and other building materials.
• Construct and install wall frames, roof framing, flooring and structural components.
• Install doors, windows, skirting boards, architraves and other finishing elements.
• Carry out general building, renovation and maintenance work.
• Ensure all work meets required quality standards, building specifications and health and safety requirements.
• Work independently and alongside other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:

• A relevant carpentry qualification (such as NZ Certificate in Carpentry Level 4 or equivalent) OR at least 3 years of relevant carpentry experience.
• Proven ability to carry out carpentry tasks to a professional standard.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and measurements.
• Competence using carpentry hand and power tools.
• Good understanding of construction site health and safety practices.
• Reliable, physically fit and able to work effectively within a team.

2. Hammerhands

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Carpenters and other tradespeople with day-to-day construction activities.
• Measure, cut and prepare building materials under supervision.
• Assist with assembling and installing timber framing and other building components.
• Safely operate basic hand and power tools as instructed.
• Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite.
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe working areas.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and qualified tradespeople.

Minimum Requirements:

• Previous construction experience is advantageous but not essential.
• No formal qualifications required.
• Basic understanding of hand and power tools, or willingness to learn.
• Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual work.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely on construction sites.
• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn new skills.
