Based in a beautiful two-storey villa in The Wood, Halifax Respite provides asafe, welcoming place for people experiencing mental health distress who needshort-term support away from their usual environment. Surrounded by peacefulgardens and trees, it's a place where tangata whai ora can rest, recover andrefocus.


We're looking for a Support Worker to join our awake night team, working Sundayand Monday nights, 11.00pm to 7.30am. A meal is provided each overnight shift.


Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll help create asafe, calm environment overnight while supporting people on their recoveryjourney.


You'll be:

  • Providing compassionate, recovery-focused and culturally safe support
  • Monitoring wellbeing, offering practical assistance and responding when support is needed
  • Completing documentation, handovers and administrative tasks
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent care
  • Helping maintain the home environment

About You | Mōu

You're a calm, caring, and resilient person who can support people experiencingmental health distress with confidence and compassion. You'll bring arecovery-focused approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability toremain composed in challenging situations. Experience in mental health isessential, and skills in de-escalation, mindfulness, and medication supportwill help you succeed in this role.


You'll have:

  • A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (or recognised equivalent), or be working towards one.
  • Experience supporting people with mental health challenges.
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence.
  • A current comprehensive first aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
  • The right to work in New Zealand (this role is not eligible for AEWV sponsorship)
