Unite Recruit is looking for a reliable and experienced Roller Operator for a civil construction project in Invercargill. If you have experience operating rollers on civil or roading projects and are ready for a regional opportunity, we’d like to hear from you.


This role includes accommodation, daily allowances and flights home every four weeks, making it a great opportunity for someone willing to work away for the duration of the project.


Important: You must be available to work over Christmas and New Year.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating rollers to support compaction and earthworks activities.
  • Completing pre-start checks and ensuring equipment is operated safely.
  • Working with other operators and ground crews to meet site requirements and project deadlines.


What We’re Looking For

  • Proven roller operating experience, preferably on civil construction or roading projects.
  • An understanding of compaction requirements and safe equipment operation.
  • A reliable, safety-focused approach and the ability to follow site instructions.
  • Availability to work through Christmas and New Year until the project finishes in mid-February 2027.
  • A full Class 1 driver licence as a baseline; a Class 2 licence is preferred, subject to the project’s vehicle and site requirements.
  • An R (roller) endorsement, where required for the vehicle and duties being performed.
