Job Description

Our Story:

The a2 Milk Company, driven by science and a pioneering spirit, disrupted the dairy and infant milk formula industry. Our vision is to create an A1-free world where dairy nourishes all people and our planet.

The a2 Milk Company seeks to achieve this through the naturally occurring a2 Milk® difference and by bringing a more sustainable approach to dairy.

The role:

Reporting to the Quality Release Lead and based at our Pokeno manufacturing site, you will support the day-to-day assessment and release of raw materials and packaging materials, helping ensure they meet the quality standards required by a2 Nutritionals NZ Limited.

Working closely with our Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing and Technical teams, you'll review quality documentation, coordinate laboratory testing, manage material non-conformances and support MPI transfer documentation. This is a great opportunity to contribute to quality assurance within a busy infant formula and dairy powder manufacturing environment.

This role is on a fixed term contract until June 2027.

More specifically, you will be involved in:

  • Reviewing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and assessing raw materials and packaging materials for release.
  • Coordinating laboratory testing, following up on results and recommending additional sampling where required.
  • Managing material non-conformances, working with suppliers on investigations and recommending appropriate usage decisions.
  • Monitoring recurring quality issues and escalating trends to Procurement.
  • Supporting foreign ingredient certificates and raising, approving and managing transfer documents through the MPI Trade Certification Platform.
  • Reviewing Certificates of Analysis to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Preparing and updating quality documentation as required.
  • Supporting quality improvement projects and contributing to quality team objectives.

What you will bring

  • 2–3 years' experience working in a laboratory or Quality team, ideally within the infant milk formula, dairy or food manufacturing industry
  • A broad understanding of food processing and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
  • Knowledge of food science, food microbiology and prerequisite programmes.
  • An understanding of material and product release processes.
  • Knowledge of MPI transfer documentation processes would be an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess quality issues and recommend appropriate actions.
