Technical Trainer - Manufacturing Systems


Location: Fiji

Contract: 3 years

Salary: USD $4,000 - $6,000 per month


About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Technical Trainers with a manufacturing, maintenance, electrical or mechanical background to support the development of practical technical skills within a new manufacturing training programme in Fiji.


This is a hands-on opportunity suited to someone who has spent a significant part of their career working with industrial machinery, equipment and maintenance systems and has experience training, coaching or mentoring others.


You don't need to be a senior manager or engineering leader. We are looking for practical, technically minded people who enjoy working hands-on and helping others develop their skills.


The Role


You will deliver a combination of classroom and practical training, helping learners develop their understanding of industrial electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.


The role will involve demonstrations, hands-on practical sessions, competency assessments and day-to-day coaching and support of learners.

You will also help maintain training equipment and contribute to improving practical training materials and resources.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver practical and classroom-based training across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Demonstrate safe working practices, equipment operation and basic fault-finding techniques
  • Support learners during hands-on practical activities
  • Conduct written and practical competency assessments
  • Provide coaching, feedback and guidance to learners
  • Reinforce workplace safety, PPE and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) requirements
  • Help develop and improve lesson plans, presentations, assessments and practical training resources
  • Read and explain technical drawings, schematics and manuals
  • Assist with the setup, inspection and maintenance of training equipment
  • Carry out basic troubleshooting of training equipment
  • Work alongside operational and training teams to ensure training remains practical and relevant
  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records
  • Participate in site visits and other workforce development activities as required


Candidate Requirements


  • Relevant Trade Certificate, Diploma or higher qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance or technical operations
  • Minimum 3 years' experience delivering technical training, coaching or workforce development
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial machinery and maintenance systems
  • Experience working with electrical and/or mechanical equipment
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • A practical and patient approach to coaching and developing others
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work in a new cultural environment


Desirable:


  • Adult education or trainer and assessor qualifications
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or industrial processing
  • Experience developing training materials or practical assessments
  • Familiarity with competency-based training or Learning Management Systems

Additional Information


  • Candidates will be employed directly by the end client
  • This is a hands-on technical training role, not a senior management position
  • The role is suited to experienced tradespeople, technicians and manufacturing professionals who have developed strong practical knowledge throughout their careers
  • Domestic travel within Fiji may be required, with occasional international travel possible
