Are you passionate about strengthening Māori participation in local government decision-making? Do you have the cultural expertise, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills to help create meaningful outcomes for Whānau, Hapū, Iwi and our wider communities?

Te Wero – The Challenge

As a trusted advisor, you'll help ensure Māori voices are actively involved in shaping the future of the Far North. You are a skilled relationship-builder with a strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, Tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a passion for creating positive community outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in a Te Ao Māori-related field.
  • At least two years' experience in local government or the public sector.
  • Fluency in Te Reo Māori and the ability to provide trusted cultural advice.
  • Experience working with senior leaders, elected members, iwi partners and stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication, research and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.
  • A proven ability to build authentic partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset focused on continuous improvement and community impact.
