Job Description

About New Shoots Rotokauri

Located in the growing Rotokauri community in Hamilton, New Shoots Rotokauri is a beautiful purpose-built early learning centre designed to reflect the natural environment and unique story of the local area. With thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces, stunning rural views, and close proximity to Hamilton Zoo and Rotokauri School, our centre provides an inspiring environment where tamariki can learn, explore and thrive.

At New Shoots Rotokauri, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming environment where strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Our team works together to ensure children, whānau and visitors feel a true sense of belonging from the moment they walk through our doors.

We're looking for an organised, people-focused Centre Administrator who is more than just an administrator. We need someone who thrives in a busy environment, takes initiative, rolls up their sleeves when needed, and genuinely enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

About the Role

As our Centre Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day success of our centre. You'll be the welcoming face of New Shoots Rotokauri while also ensuring our administrative systems run smoothly behind the scenes.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety and is happy to support across all areas of the centre. While administration will be your primary focus, you'll also be someone who is willing to lend a hand wherever needed, whether that's supporting centre operations, helping maintain a welcoming environment, assisting with housekeeping tasks, or jumping in to support the wider team during busy periods.

You'll be a proactive problem-solver who notices what needs to be done and gets it done, contributing to the overall success of the centre every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Front-of-house reception duties, greeting whānau, tamariki and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
  • Building positive relationships and ensuring every family feels welcomed and valued.
  • Managing new enrolments and enrolment administration.
  • Ministry of Education compliance and filing requirements.
  • Managing monthly accounts, debtors and budget administration.
  • Data entry for timesheets, attendance and payroll processes.
  • Supporting the Centre Manager with day-to-day administrative functions.
  • Assisting with centre operations and helping wherever needed to ensure the centre runs smoothly.
  • Contributing to the overall presentation and organisation of the centre environment.

About You

You'll be someone who:

  • Loves working with people and building positive relationships.
  • Has exceptional organisation and time management skills.
  • Is highly motivated and uses initiative.
  • Enjoys being part of a team and is always willing to help others.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple priorities.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Takes pride in creating welcoming experiences for children and whānau.
  • Is adaptable, flexible and willing to get stuck in wherever needed.
  • Brings a positive, can-do attitude to work each day.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a similar administration role.
  • Experience with accounts, debtors and financial administration.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in education or early childhood settings is advantageous.
  • Experience with the Infocare student management system is desirable but not essential.

What We Offer

  • Beautiful modern centre environment.
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture.
  • Uniform provided.
  • Discounted childcare rates.
  • Ongoing support from your Centre Manager, Area Manager and wider New Shoots support team.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

As the welcoming face of our centre, flexibility is important in this role. Start and finish times may vary to ensure visibility across key drop-off and pick-up periods throughout the week. This allows our Centre Administrator to build meaningful relationships with tamariki, whānau and caregivers, provide support when families need it most, and maintain a strong presence within our centre community. Being available at different times helps create the warm, connected environment that New Shoots Rotokauri is known for.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now!

Applications close Friday, 30 October 2026.
