We are looking for an experienced Unit Manager to lead our food service operations at Waikato CPK in Hamilton Central .


This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week during education terms . You will support the Area Manager by overseeing daily operations, leading and developing the team, and delivering quality food and service that meets client and customer expectations.


You will build strong client relationships, manage budgets and operational targets, maintain robust food safety and health and safety standards, and oversee the site in the Area Manager’s absence. This is an opportunity to combine your hospitality leadership, commercial capability and commitment to service excellence in a busy education environment.

  • Lead, coach and develop the team to deliver quality food and excellent service.
  • Build strong client relationships and take ownership of operational issues.
  • Manage budgets, labour, stock, food costs and site performance targets.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, health and safety, and compliance.
  • Identify service improvements, revenue opportunities and operational efficiencies.

  • Proven experience leading successful teams in a senior hospitality role.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and leadership skills.
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene, workplace regulations and safety practices.
  • Confidence using technology and business systems to manage operations.


Contract management experience, relevant business qualifications or an NZQA Food Handling Certificate would be advantageous.
